Epson Red Sea 2010 Innovative Categories

So What’s Cooking For Us on the Epson Red Sea 2010?

Quite a lot, actually!

The 6th annual Epson Red Sea competition will be held on November 8-13, 2010 in Eilat.

As during the 5 past years, the competition will feature two main categories and lots of prizes to give away. The first is called Images of the world, and participants in this category can submit images that were shot anytime anywhere around the world, without even attending the competition. The second category is called Eilat shoot out, and participants in this category are allowed to submit only images which were taken during the three days of this competition in Eilat.

Take a look below to read about Epson Red Sea 2010 news and innovative categories.

NEW on IMAGES OF THE WORLD Category

The Sharks Category – 3 Best Images
Prize: $ 2,000
Images submitted to this category will be judged according to the following guidelines:

- Each photographer participating in this category should submit his 3 best shark images. These can be either 3 standalone impressive images or 3 images that when integrated into one series, produce an impressive portfolio.

- Images should refer to the environmental context of the shark, emphasizing its powerful visual appearance, as well as his independency and tendency to control.

No Need to Send the Images via Mail!

Good news to underwater photographers participating in the Images of the World category. Starting from Epson Red Sea 2010, there is no longer a need to print the images and send the print via mail. Instead, each participant will be requested to upload his images on a dedicated server and to send only a CD with the digital or scanned images in mail. The production will print all images for the exhibition. This makes it easier more than ever to take part in this category!

NEW on EILAT SHOOT-OUT Category

The Fashion & Nudity Category – 5 Best Images
Prize soon to be announced

Images submitted to this category will be judged according to the following guidelines:

- Images submitted to this category should introduce creativity, aesthetics, originality, technical control of the media, creative lighting and an interesting approach towards the combination between the human body, fashion and nature.

- The series of images should be visually homogeneous and should serve as a campaign that features an explicit style.

- The photographer can make use of nudity and fashion elements upon his choice. The series can consist of nudity only, fashion only or a combination of the two.

Fish of the Year – 5 Best Images
– NEW CONCEPT!

First Prize: $ 3,000 and a diving trip for two in Fiji islands – both granted to the photographer in person

While other competitions around the world are busy with announcing the annual beauty queen, the leading racing car or the most popular pop star, Epson Red Sea 2010 is proud to introduce the Fish of the Year. But this time, as a PUBLIC ESTATE!

This year, the Fish of the Year category will be open to all photographers participating in the Eilat Shoot-Out competition.

On the Epson Red Sea 2010 opening ceremony, which will take place on Monday evening, November 8th, a day before the Eilat Shoot-Out begins, a marine biologist will introduce the fish chosen to be the Fish of the Year of Epson Red Sea 2010. The marine biologist will also take advantage of the opportunity to provide photographers with images and basic information regarding this fish, such as its habbits and preferred locations, information which photographers will find helpful if participating in this category.

At that point, in which we’ve already got the ultimate model, all we will be missing is a splendid photographer!

During the 3 days of the Epson Red Sea 2010 shoot-out competition, the fish announced as the Fish of the Year will serve as a case study for all photographers participating in the Fish of the Year category. The winner will be the one who submits the most creative, original, professional and diverse portfolio of the Fish of the Year.

The prize has been upgraded as well! The $5,000 check, along with a diving trip for two in Fiji islands, will be granted to the photographer in person and he will not be obligated to donate his prize.
