SanDisk Red Sea 2006 Winners & Nominees

 

Not every day you can see divers/photographers shed salty tears and not from their diving suits but, from their hearts. This was the most exciting and emotional moment that SanDisk Red Sea 2006 produced at the ceremony evening of the rewording night at the Isrotel Ambassador Hotel Eilat, Israel.

10,000. US$ check was granted by Sandisk to the best five images at the Eilat's Shoot-out category, 3,000. US$ check was granted by Olympus to the best five images at the Images of the world category among other astonishing prizes such as 3 weeks diving round trip for two to Papua New Guinea,  7 days package to Palau for two 7 days package to the Red Sea, SeaCam Housing for Nikon, among others 1000 bottles of Maccabbee beer

This is the 2 years in a roe  that the SanDisk Red Sea International underwater Photo Competition takes place in Eilat, Israel, organized by the visionary Yam Magazine editor and publisher – David Pilosof– Pilo. 

Sponsored by SanDisk  the world largest supplier of Flash Memory products, our partner for this prestigious competition and as well as other sponsors such as  Isrotel hotels, The Israel Ministry of Tourism, Olympus,  Eilat Municipality and Maccabee beer among others.

the event took place at the Isrotel Ambasador hotel  in Eilat, the southeast city in Israel on the banks of the Red Sea, , the city that doesn't goes to sleep, even underwater… 

And, indeed 116 competitors that arrived to Eilat from all over the world to take part in the international competition, were  very much awake. No one wanted to loose the opportunity to share his shoot- outs and to plash out  it's amazing, beautiful and creative photographs. All of them to be edited in an unforgettable album that will be published soon

 

The international judging panel for all the categories  were:

Daniel Mercier, president of the Antibes Film Festival France, 
Ariel Fuchs, photographer and journalist from France,
Ronni Soffer, photographer and editor of Contact Magazine from Israel, Yon Feder, editor of "Ynet" web site from Israel, 
Shlomo Cohen, illustrator and photographer from Israel,

Osku Puukila journalist and photographer  from Finland 
Alberto Muro Piliconi journalist and photographer from Italy.

After more then 12 hours of long discussions, the results came...
